Petra Warrington

December 22, 1961 - September 15, 2026

Petra Warrington, age 64, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026. Born on December 22, 1961, in Mülheim, Germany, Petra moved to the United States in 1973 when she was 12 years old. Bright and determined from a young age, she graduated a year early from Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado. Which is also where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Rick.

Petra and Rick married in 1981 and soon settled in Arvada, which would become her cherished home for the rest of her life. Shortly after their wedding, Petra proudly became a United States citizen on March 21, 1986.

A beloved wife, mom, and friend, Petra found her greatest joy in the life she shared with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Rick; her sons, Ricky and Tim; her mother, Christa Boehmer; her sister, Dagmar Lanz (Jason); her devoted little shadow, Holly; her brothers-in-law, Douglas (Amber) Warrington and Steve (Isabell) Warrington; her sister-in-law, Laurie (Ken) Franti; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Petra had a vibrant spirit and embraced both life's simple comforts and grand adventures. She loved spending time visiting friends and family and was an avid reader. A wonderful cook and baker, she delighted in sharing her creations with those closest to her and was a passionate fan of the Colorado Avalanche. Her adventurous heart took her on countless travels around the world, but she found just as much peace locally, often enjoying long walks along the lakeside trails and local parks.

She was also a dedicated and deeply respected member of her AA community. Celebrating 16 years of sobriety was one of the most important and heartfelt accomplishments of her life. It was a journey of immense courage and grace, a fellowship that held profound meaning for her, and a place where she found, and freely gave, so much strength, hope, and support.

A memorial service for Petra will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, located at 7577 West 80th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003. A celebration of life will take place at a later date and time.
