Peggy Ann Lake, known to all who loved her simply as Peg, passed away on September 8, 2026, at her home in Lakewood, Colorado. She was 81.

 Born on April 15, 1945, in Yakima, Washington, Peggy built a remarkable career that began in 1968 when she started with the phone company as a Telephone Operator. Over the next thirty years, she worked her way up through management in various departments, earning the respect of everyone she worked alongside. 

Peggy had a gift for making people feel good. She could make anyone laugh with her quick wit, and her beautiful smile had a way of bringing a smile to everyone around her. Anyone who knew Peggy knew about her devotion to the Broncos. Her enthusiasm for the game was contagious, and it led her to get involved with guest services at Mile High as well as other sports venues. 

When she wasn't cheering on her team, Peggy loved being outdoors, especially puttering around in her garden. She also enjoyed traveling to other states and abroad to visit places known for their beautiful gardens. Peg also had a creative gift for working with stained glass & over the years, she shared several pieces with family & friends. Her tender heart extended to animals, too. She volunteered with the Cat Care Society for a few years, adopting several cats along the way. 

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Tricia Harvey (Dale); her brothers, Robert Lake (Donna) and Jack Lake; and her sister, Sue Lake; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Spencer; brother, David Lake; son, David Wortman; Grandsons Jesse Wortman, Christopher Ackerman and Great-Grandson Braxton Ackerman. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
