Peggie V. Offermann, 85, passed away with family at bedside in her assisted living care facility in Littleton, Colorado on April 19, 2015 after a prolonged illness. Born as Peggie Lou Vantrease in Galena, Kansas on July 10, 1929, she was raised in the zinc-mining towns of Quapaw and Pitcher, Oklahoma during the dust-bowl days of the Great Depression. She and her husband of almost 53 years, Charles ""Chuck"" William Offermann, found their way to Lafayette, Louisiana in affiliation with the oil industry. Both felt at home in ""Cajun Country"" and chose to raise their family there. ""Mum Peg"" (as her grandchildren affectionately called her) moved to Littleton, Colorado at the time of Chuck's death in 2003 to be closer to family and there she resided until her death. She is survived by daughter Gail Offermann of Spavinaw, OK, daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Wayne Sorensen of Littleton, Colorado, and two much loved grandchildren, Julie and Randall Sorensen. A brief traditional service will be held 11 am Wednesday April 29th at the chapel of Horan and McConaty Funeral Home in Lakewood, Colorado. In honor of Chuck's Navy service, both Peggie and he are to be laid to rest together at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. The family requests in lieu of flowers or gifts donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
