LAKEWOOD

Patsy, wife of John Andrew “Andy” Morris, passed away June 6th 2024. She was born and raised in Falconer, NY, the daughter of Glenn Warner and Margaret McKinney Waite and sister to Carolyn and Glenn Jr. Growing up in a small town in upstate New York, she delighted in caring for her beloved horse Gypsy and riding the countryside with her friends. After high school, where she was a Regents and National Honor Society scholar, she attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where she majored in dramatic arts. She played the starring role in the school’s production of G. B. Shaw’s The Millionairess, for which she received acclaim from Cleveland’s cultural-scene critics.

While a student, she met her future husband, and the two were married in 1958. After graduation she joined the personnel department of Cleveland’s University Hospital, where she worked until the birth of her first child. When work took the family to New York State, Connecticut, Georgia, and finally to northern New Jersey, where they resided for 30 years, Patsy’s life centered on raising her young family and neighborhood and school activities. She loved her various cats and dogs, and her sense of fun and droll humor made her an endearing companion to all.

Antiquing through nearby New England was a frequent activity during the empty-nest years, and it graced their home with many unique finds. New Jersey also offered the opportunity to enjoy their summer home on Nantucket Island, MA. Its history and New England charm found a special place in Patsy’s heart, and many summers were enjoyed with friends and family on the beaches and in the island’s historic towns.

In 1999, retirement brought Patsy and Andy to Perry Park, CO, and a new life in the foothills of the Front Range. New friends were made and many opportunities taken to explore the mountains, canyons, haunted hotels, and other treasures of the state. In 2020, downsizing their life, Patsy and Andy moved to a retirement community in Lakewood, CO, to begin another chapter.

Patsy is survived by her husband, John Andrew Morris, son John Andrew Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO, two daughters, Amy Ryan of Chapel Hill, NC, and Gretchen Eggemeyer of Morrison, CO, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Donations in her memory are requested to be sent to the Tunnel2Tower Foundation (t2t.org).
