Patrick Collins

November 18, 1955 — April 4, 2023

Patrick Joseph Collins, age 67, passed suddenly on April 4, 2023 at his home in Denver, Colorado. Pat was born to Donald and Louise Collins on November 18, 1955 in Rockville Centre, New York. He was preceded by siblings John, Tom and Maureen and succeeded by Dan, Kathy and Eileen. Pat spent about five years in Bethpage, New York prior to the Collins family permanently relocating to Lisle, Illinois.

Pat attended St. Joan of Arc grade school and Benet Academy high school, both in Lisle. In 1971, Pat met his wife, Mary Barrett, who was in attendance for Pat's self-described "scoop and score" touchdown in Benet's homecoming game. Pat was subsequently flagged for excessive celebration after spiking the football. Benet won 6 to 0.

Pat graduated from the University of Kansas in 1978 with a major in journalism. Pat and Mary wed on August 16, 1980. In 1982, Pat graduated from DePaul University College of Law and began his legal profession at the law firm of Conklin & Adler in Chicago.

Following the footsteps of his brother Tom, Pat moved with Mary to Colorado in 1983. After working for the law firm of Zarlengo, Mott & Zarlengo, Pat opened his law practice in 1988 where he successfully represented clients locally and nationally for 35 years. Pat loved and was fulfilled by his work. Pat was followed into his profession by his daughter Patrice, his son-in-law Drew and his son Brian.

Pat is survived by his beloved wife Mary, and his wonderful siblings John (Patty Ellen), Tom (Kristy), Maureen (Don), Dan, Kathy (John) and Eileen (Dave). Pat was the loving father of Patrice (Drew), Daniel, Brian (Bridget) and Caraline and the adored grandpa of Leo, Livia, Collin and Michael. He was a loving and fun uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Like his father — and his brothers, and his children, and his nephews — Pat was a caddie in his youth. He attributed his poker skills to endless hours waiting for loops at the Hinsdale Golf Club caddyshack. Pat was a biker, hiker, skier, golfer and lover of the outdoors. He was a season ticketholder for the Denver Nuggets for nearly 40 years and a proud supporter of the Kansas Jayhawks. Rock Chalk! His most recent personal accomplishment was becoming a braggadocios member of the United Airlines million mile club. His enthusiasm and love for recreation, sports and travel is far surpassed by the enthusiasm and love he gave to his family.

We love and cherish the King of the Castle. Rest easy Patrick J. Collins.
