Patricia Ann Miller passed away on August 4, 2021, after spending her 77 years making people laugh – sometimes at her – and smile.
She is survived by two children, her daughter Tami Wasson and her husband, Scott; her son, Mike Brohard; three grandchildren, Brittany Golden and Abbie and Josie Brohard; cousins Eddie Jane Butler, Stephen Ruddick and Robin Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Janet Morgan, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Brohard.
Patti enjoyed her life throughout a myriad of pursuits, finding a way to make them all fun. She was a bookkeeper and a travel agent, using the latter position to explore the world with her family and friends. She loved to bowl, and the Happy Hookers were not a team to be taken lightly. She was tough cribbage opponent, but not so great at poker.
She entered a room with a smile and looking to make friends. It would be unlike her to not to strike up a conversation with someone no matter where she was, whether she knew them or not. She owned a bar, the Sports Inn, for a spell, enlarging her circle of friends. And if you were lucky enough to be with her on St. Paddy’s Day – her favorite day of year – you had the time of your life with stories to last for years to come.
After retirement, she became involved in arts and crafts, blessing all with her homemade cards to fit every occasion. She enjoyed setting up gatherings in the apartment complex she lived in, be it game or movie nights, even Super Bowl parties. A chance to gather was a chance to make more friends, or strengthen the bonds you already had.
She loved her two children, even when they had water fights inside the house, wrote “Redrum” on her bathroom mirror or locked themselves in their room during their Sweet 16 party. Her house was the neighborhood house, where Tami and Mike’s friends were always welcome any time of the day. There were very few of them who did not refer to Patti as “mom.”
She also loved her grandchildren. She had them over for sleepovers, weekends she would fill with scheduled activities, all of them listed under “spoiled.” And each morning, they would be graced with a breakfast of bacon cooked so well that if touched, became powder. Just the way she – and she alone – liked it.
A service will be held Wednesday, August 11 at 11 a.m. at Horan & McConaty at 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO, 80227. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to MaxFund Animal Adoption Center (MaxFund.org).
