Patricia Lee Shields (Mapes) born April 23, 1954, passed away in hospice care in Denver, Colorado on February 27, 2026. She was a graduate of Northglenn High School and attended Metropolitan State University at Denver. She moved with her family from Iola Kansas to Colorado as a young girl. She met and then married Richard Leo Shields on June 28, 1980. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years and retired in 2009.
Patricia belonged to numerous church and community choirs throughout her adult life. She really enjoyed singing and piano. She also loved working out at her favorite recreation center since retiring. She would go every weekday when she could. She also loved doing cross stitch and of course reading her bible every day.
She is survived by her son James (Nicole) Shields and her daughter Jennifer (Stanley) Deusser III.
She is survived by seven grandchildren. Isabella, James (JR), Lucas and John Shields and Ethan, Ellie and Everett Deusser. She is also survived by her brother Wilbur (Cheryl) Mapes, her nephew William (Brandy) Mapes and niece Rebecca Harold. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Doris Mapes, her brothers Paul and Harold Mapes and her sister Susan Barker.
Funeral Services will take place at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish on Thursday March 5, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. and interment will follow at Saint Simeon Catholic Cemetery in Arapahoe County.
