Nancy June Stone

January 21, 1939 — July 5, 2025

Nancy June Stone, 86, of Denver, Colorado passed away at her home on July 5, 2025, of natural causes, while surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Nancy was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 21, 1939. Her parents, Walter and Wanda Wroble moved to San Luis Obispo, CA in 1946 where Nancy grew up and met her husband of 64 years, Albert Hayden Stone, Jr. who passed away in 2017. Nancy and Al had five children in California before moving their family all over the world in the service of the US Agency for International Development, including the Philippines, Nigeria, Washington, D.C., and Nicaragua. She and her family returned to Morgan Hill, California in 1976 where they stayed until all of the children left the nest, later moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico and finally settling in Denver, Colorado.

Nancy’s career was as varied as her interests. She wrote and published a book titled Iguanas On My Roof; she traveled all over the world and had dinners with kings, queens, ambassadors and presidents; she held the highest level security clearance at Lawrence Livermore National Labs, she was the Vice-President of a company that provided back-up services for some of the world’s largest banks; and she was the owner of her own firm, Abbey Bookkeeping Services.

But to Nancy, her biggest and most important achievement was her family. She was preceded in death by her mother Wanda, father Walter, husband Albert, and brother Richard. She is survived by her younger sister Linda Joyce Ticknor, and Nancy’s five children: Albert Hayden, III married to Antoinette Marie, James Lawrence married to Diane, Janice Lynne married to Kenneth Brice, Kenneth Manson married to Victoria Irene, and the youngest Eric Thomas. Nancy is also survived by her twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Nancy believed in the inestimable value of friends and family. To quote her:

“Pay attention to your immediate and extended family members and friends. … The rewards are beyond measure and matter more than anything you could possibly possess. Show that you love them and care about their work, their play, their triumphs and their fears. Be willing to assist where you can and just hold their hand when you can’t.”
