Nancy Carrizales, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 2, 2025, at home surrounded by family at the age of 90.
Born on March 6, 1935, in Linn County, Oregon, and raised alongside her four brothers, Pete, Dave, Dale, and Butchie (1950-1954), Nancy lived a life with an adventurous spirit defined by compassion, determination, devotion to family, church, and public service. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew M. Carrizales, who passed on September 4, 2006. Together, they built a legacy of love and family.
A lifelong advocate for education and civic engagement, Nancy served as an aide in the Colorado State Senate, bringing insight and passion to her work. She was instrumental in founding a “back to basics” public school, leaving a lasting impact on her community’s educational landscape.
Nancy is survived by her three children: Mike Carrizales, Rita Bock, and Caryn Amos; her six grandchildren: Katie, Lindsey, Megan, Gabriel, Samantha, and Crystal; and her six great-grandchildren: Layla, Nora, Emma, Ford, Briggs, and Gabriel, with one on the way. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished sharing stories, wisdom, and love with them.
Known for her warmth and tireless energy, Nancy loved collecting and reselling antiques, delighting in the stories behind each treasure. She also cherished tending to her peach trees and yard, bringing beauty and joy to her home and neighborhood. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she has touched.
A memorial service with reception to follow, will be held on September 25th, 10 am at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave. Denver, CO 80014.
