Frances Neighbors

Frances Neighbors passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado on June 23, 2023 at the age of 96, with her daughters at her side. Nora Frances Neighbors was born on February 7, 1927 in Laurel, Iowa to Guy J. and Velma N. Nolan Richardson.

She was a graduate of Unionville High School in Unionville, Missouri.

Frances married Keith Eldon Neighbors on March 23, 1947. They resided on a farm in Lemons, Missouri. They were happily married for 64 years before Keith’s death in August 2011.

She worked for Information Handling Services as a department supervisor and retired in May 1992 after 29 years of service. Even more importantly, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker.

She was a wonderful cook and our parents loved entertaining their family in their home to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and many other milestones. Even after Dad’s death, she continued to welcome the family to her home for family get-togethers well into her 90s. In addition, she also loved tending to their beautiful home and flower garden along with traveling. She also loved to collect vintage glassware and crystal.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her immediate family as well as her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and their families, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and their families and friends.

Frances is survived by her daughters Linda Bates and Vicki Volts as well as her grandsons Trent Bates, wife Laurel and family, Travis Volts; great-grandchildren Cassandra Bates and Andrew Bates; nieces Judy, her husband Kent, Carla Ball her husband Kenny, their sons Jarred, Keith and their families, Pam Fogel Smith, husband Randy and family, Terry Richardson, Debbie Lobdell and family, Jolene Richardson, Mark and Mike Richardson, Cheryl Richardson Pray, husband Frank and family, Steven Richardson, wife Angie and family, Michelle Lobdell Hopp, husband John, Bobby Tyler and Donna Jack.

She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Richardson and her mother, Velma Richardson Wendt; husband, Keith Neighbors; siblings Carroll and JoEllen Richardson, both died during early childhood; son-in-law, William Bates, Jr.; and great-grandson, Eric Bates.

Frances was also preceded in death by her sisters Betty Lupton and her husband, Wayne, Dorothy Lobdell and her husband Delbert, Ruth Ann Davis and her husband Cleo, as well as her brothers, Leon Richardson, Jim Richardson and his wife, Pat, Larry Richardson, and Dale Richardson, and nieces, Neta Lupton, Cathy Davis Shannon, Susan Lobdell Ramirez, Tina Lobdell Tyler, and Peggy Richardson. Nephews that preceded her in death were Ray Richardson and his wife, Nancy, Scott Richardson, Bryan Richardson, Brad Richardson, Mike Lobdell, Jeff Lobdell, and John Gorman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023, 4pm-7pm and Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, 11:00am, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. Burial will follow service at Crown Hill Cemetery.
