Myron Deuel Whitman Jr. ( Tony ) , age 81 of Aurora Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024.
Tony was born on March 5, 1943 in Niagara Falls, New York to parents Beatrice Alice ( Qualey ) and Myron Deuel Whitman. He grew up in Queens, New York with his brother Peter and sister Susan. Tony graduated Bayside High School in Queens in 1961.
Tony joined the USAF in 1964 and was stationed at Westover AFB in Mass., where he met Marjorie who was also in the AF. They married on Nov. 4, 1967 and were happily married for 56 years. They were transferred to Taiwan where their daughter Michelle was born in Dec. of 1970. Soon after they transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Alaska where Tony continued his education, earning a BA of Arts in 1974 from the UAA. After being transferred to Buckley AFB in Co., Tony medically retired from the AF after being diagnosed with MS. The family moved back to IL. where Tony furthered his studies and graduated with a Masters in Science in Education from SIUE in 1977.
Having loved and missed the mountains, they moved back to CO. Tony volunteered for many years at the VA hospital in Denver. He was in his element as a greeter helping people find their way. He also participated for many years at the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic. He was an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Aurora, where he served as a Junior Warden and completed the 4 year EFM course. Tony and Marge were also members of the Breakfast Club.
Tony loved to travel and visit family and friends. Whether driving to the mountains in CO, or taking a cruise to AK, he enjoyed exploring and meeting new people. Tony could strike up a conversation with just about anybody he met. He was an avid sports fan and a die hard CO sports fan. He enjoyed watching all the teams play, even in losing seasons ( which were a lot ). Tony also loved playing solitaire and working on find a word puzzles and crosswords.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan. He is survived by his wife Marge, daughter Michelle and his brother Peter. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial/celebration of life will take place at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Aurora on Sept. 14, 2024 at 1:00pm.
