Morley Robinson of Denver, Colorado died peacefully on September 17, 2021 at the age of 96. The son of Ralph and Louise Robinson, he is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Dolores (Bachy) Robinson, his brother Ralph Robinson, and his sister Jean (Robinson) Garland. Morley is survived by his children: Loretta (Robinson) Fischer, Louise (Robinson) Rolofson, and Larry Robinson, his grandchildren, Chris Rolofson, Kelly (Rolofson) Falcone, Kyle Rolofson, Jessie (Fischer) Lund, Rachel (Fischer) Desrosiers, Miranda (Robinson) Peña-Lora, and Matt Robinson, and his great-grandchildren, Fiona Falcone, Norah Falcone, Lilli Rolofson, Emilia Rolofson and Oscar Desrosiers.
After his retirement, Morley wrote "I Was Lucky," a short bio about his life:
All of my (and my wife's) grandparents immigrated from Europe in the late 1800s. They were all coal or gold miners. I was delivered at home in 1925 by a doctor who made house calls. Two years later the same doctor delivered a baby girl named Dolores (also at home). Nineteen years later we were married, and the marriage lasted 66 years. Most of our education occurred in rural or small town schools. There were only four students in my small mountain school. At that time the average wage for teenagers was approximately 25 cents per day. Playing marbles and riding bicycles were the primary source of entertainment. Occasionally a medicine show would come to town. I lived by the railroad tracks and many hoboes stopped at our house offering to work for food.
During World War ll I was a radio operator on B-17 and B-29 airplanes. I was also a radio operator on Air Force Rescue boats.
After the war, I graduated from the University of Colorado as a Civil Engineer.
I worked on Aerospace projects for 39 years. I was lucky enough to be the test conductor for the first captive firing of the Titan II launch Vehicle. Titan ll was later used to launch the Gemini astronauts into orbit.
Some of the major Aerospace projects I worked on were:
F86, F89, and F100 Jet Airplanes
Titan 1, 2, 3, and 4 Launch Vehicles
Skylab (America's first Space Station)
Viking (the first Mars operational lander)
The Space Shuttle (12 Years)
During my 24 years of retirement I have been an amateur writer. Several articles have been published. One article is in the Air Force archives in Washington D.C.
