Modesta “Millie” Goggins, 100, died peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Arvada, Colorado. A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Millie was a faithful and devoted Catholic who received Communion weekly and completed her Rosary daily. She loved living in Colorado and watching all the wildlife and especially the hummingbirds. Her flower garden was the talk of the neighborhood every summer with all the wonderful colors and variety of flowers. She loved all the summer family trips to the mountains to fix breakfast and lunch and let us kids play. She was always planning summer BBQ’s with family and friends in her backyard. We always looked forward to making homemade ice cream and visiting.
Millie was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 21, 1924. She graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1941. After high school she went to Denver Colorado to pursue a college education, but needed to return home to support her family.
During the war she worked at Fort Warren as the Secretary to the General in charge and later at a food warehouse as a Secretary. In 1944 she met Donald James Goggins at a USO Dance and was married at St. Mary’s Church in Cheyenne Wyoming on December 29, 1945. Their favorite thing to do was spend time with family and especially in the mountains. After her husband passed away, she did extensive travel both U.S. and Abroad with her church group. Her favorite trip was with her daughter, Jennie, to Greece.
