Milton M. “Bubba” Moore, 70, of Indian Hills passed away on Saturday, October 1 in Thornton surrounded by his loving family after a long struggle with diabetes and renal failure. A giant of a man with a personality to match, he was prayerful, patient, and loving to the end, making an enormous impact on his loved ones, nurses, doctors, and caregivers.
Bubba was a Denver native, born on August 22, 1952 to the late Charles and Maxine (Cox) Moore. He grew up in the Clayton neighborhood with his five brothers and sisters, and graduated from East High School.
He was a dedicated and proud craftsman, working as a roofer for 30 years. If you drove around with him anywhere in Denver, he could get you to the right intersection without a map - and would show you a half dozen buildings he had put the roof on along the way.
Bubba was a devout Catholic, and was deeply involved at Christ the King parish in Evergreen as a member of the Knights of Columbus and a graduate from the Denver Biblical School. He also sought to show compassion the least among us, and organized the parish’s homeless ministry for over 20 years.
Above all else, Bubba loved and was devoted to his family, with whom he enjoyed camping, traveling to Rome and Jerusalem, and spending Sundays at his beloved cabin. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon, his children Christopher, of Boston, MA, Jason, of Lawrence, KS, Vanessa Bast of Arvada, CO, her husband Chad and children Rosalie and Garnet, his siblings Karen Vaden of Coral Springs, FL, Steven of San Dimas, CA, and Eddie of San Francisco, CA, as well as dozens of extended family members. He was well-loved, and will be fondly remembered for his fortitude, his faithfulness, and his pride in his family and work.
SERVICES - We will gather to celebrate, remember, and honor Bubba with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 4291 Evergreen Parkway in Evergreen. Friends and family are also invited to join in a vigil rosary at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 at Christ the King. Private burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Haven of Hope, 1101 W 7th Ave, Denver, CO 80204 or https://thoh.org/donate/.
