Miles Butler Kehoe was born on June 19, 1948, was adopted by Miles J Kehoe and Marjorie Butler Kehoe who raised him in New Orleans. Miles often spoke about his time at Culver Academy and remained active in the local Bay Area Culver Alumni Association.
Miles was a well known and highly respected member of the enterprise search community. In addition to lending his search expertise to companies like Fulcrum, Verity and Lucidworks, he founded New Idea Engineering and SearchButton.com. Miles was a prolific author having written three books and numerous search articles. He was also called upon to speak at many search conferences and meetings.
Aside from search technology, Miles wore many hats, airplane pilot, amateur astronomer, soccer coach, and mentor to many people who were fortunate to know him. He hosted an annual New Year’s Day gathering where he served New Orleans red beans and rice and invited everyone he knew. Miles was a die hard 49ers fan. He was the proud father of a black labrador named, Shadow, and a golden doodle named, Lexi.
Miles relocated to Colorado during the pandemic shelter in place, so his dear friends Stacey and Alex Scarvelli could watch over him. Stacey worked diligently to help Miles with life planning that included prepared arrangements for Miles’ final resting place. In June 2025, Stacey made her unexpected transition, but was prudent enough to make a plan for Miles’ dear friends Mark Bennett and Chris Fernandez to follow through with his wishes. Miles will be interned into the Kehoe family mausoleum in Metairie, Louisiana.
