Michael Brice Sullivan, 57, of Englewood, Colorado, passed away November 11, 2014. He was born October 28, 1957 in Evanston, Illinois to Judith and James Sullivan. Michael graduated from Lakewood High School in 1976, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors (Upper Division) in Philosophy from the University of Puget Sound in 1980, and received a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law in 1983. He began his career at the Denver law firm of Hall & Evans, later moved to Harrison, Karstaedt, Jamison & Powers as a partner, and finally opened his own practice in June of 2014. A highly prominent Denver area attorney, Michael's practice consisted of a wide spectrum of civil litigation with an emphasis in the field of torts. His experience included involvement in mandatory arbitration, products liability actions, automobile accident litigation, and landowner's liability. Michael had substantial experience in matters involving dram shop actions in the defense of liquor liability cases. He had an extensive background in trials, civil procedure, and courtroom administration, and was experienced in consolidation of complex multi-district litigation in Colorado. Michael was instrumental in drafting legislation on behalf of clients from various industrial sectors, including Colorado's dram shop statute. Michael had considerable experience in toxic tort, underground storage tank, and construction defect litigation. Michael was admitted to practice law in the State of Colorado; United States District Court, District of Colorado; United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit. Michael is survived by his wife, Helen; five children; Brice, Thomas, James Patrick, Mary Margaret and Joseph; his parents, Judith & James; and his siblings, James Jr., Elizabeth & Robert. A Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00pm on Friday, November 14, 2014 with a Rosary to follow at 6:00pm, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. After the Rosary, at the same location, there will be an Irish Wake in honor and celebration of Michael's life. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, 10:30am, at All Souls Catholic Church, 4950 South Logan Street, Englewood, CO 80113. A Private Graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
