Michael ""Mike"" Olson

Michael ""Mike"" Olson, 56, died in a tragic accident on Sunday July 31, 2016. The loves of Mike's life were his spouse and partner in crime Julie Olson, his daughter Valerie, his son Jason, his four grandsons Aiden, Seth, Nolan, Logan and Hunter, his only granddaughter. Mike was born and raised in Minnesota, living throughout the United States before settling in Colorado. He and Julie lived on their beloved ranch, showing the grandkids how to ranch and helping out friends and neighbors with anything they might need. Mike and Julie traveled the West in his favorite Ford pickup truck, attending auctions and meeting friends. Mike joined the Marine Corps in 1977 and it became an important part of his life. Mike went on to receive a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas and most notably a Master of Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University. Mike was well known in his field of work. He was a mentor and friend to many colleagues. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Mike is survived by his brothers Scott and his wife Jolene Olson and their children Jennifer and Ben; Jim Olson and his partner Chad Waltz and their daughter Allison; sister Becky Olson and her partner Vicki Powers. His mother-in-law Beverly Elder; brother-in-law Mike and wife Kim Elder, their children Mandy and Josh; sister-in-law Barb and her husband Dean Little and brother-in-law Mark and his wife Dawn, their daughters Hannah, Laura and Sarah. Mike is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on August 13, 2016, at Conifer Community Church located at 9998 Havekost Road, Conifer, Colorado 80433. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider an extra donation to a favorite charity, and that you take a moment of your time to provide Mike's family any form of stories, pictures or videos that will heighten his grandchildren's understanding of Mike as time passes.
