Michael William Lloyd, known to those who loved him as Mike, and to his grandchildren as Papa Mike, passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2026.
Mike was born on June 12, 1951, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Charles William Lloyd and Glenice Louise Lloyd (Owen). He graduated from Genoa High School in Genoa, Ohio in 1969. He joined the United States Air Force proudly serving from 1970 to 1974. He married Vina Louise Rodawalt on July 14, 1972.
In 1980, Mike moved to Colorado with his wife Vina and daughters Amanda and Michelle, setting in Broomfield. In 1982, they moved to Nederland, Colorado where they settled and raised their family. Mike and Vina moved to Arvada, Colorado in 2014.
Mike was hardworking, driven, creative, and incredibly handy. After moving to Colorado, he began a career at Ball Aerospace as an aerospace technician, working on spacecraft, propulsion systems, fueling, and helping support spacecraft launches. He took pride in his work and the role he played in advancing aerospace technology.
There was not much Mike could not figure out or fix. Whether tackling a project, building trailers from scratch, or repairing what others might have given up on, he always found a way. When he wasn't working on a project, he could often be found puttering around in his garage, listening to music and enjoying a few beers.
An avid outdoorsman, Mike was master archer, fisherman, and hunter. He loved to travel, but some of his happiest days were spent fishing at Turquoise Lake with his beloved wife, Vina. He was happiest outdoors, surrounded by nature and sharing life's simple pleasures with the people he loved.
Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed easily. He loved deeply and without reservation. He was incredibly proud of his family and loved his wife with a devotion that was evident to everyone who knew them. After 54 years of marriage, Vina was not simply his wife, she was his partner, his best friend, and the person with whom he shared a lifetime of adventures, laughter, hard work, and memories
The greatest measure of Mike's life is found in the people who loved him and the family he helped create. Mike is survived by his wife, Vina (Rodawalt); his daughters, Amanda Adams (Sam) and Michelle Harrison (Arik); and his nine grandchildren: Kendel Repola (Dan), Jace Repola (Tanis), Jordan Harrison, Jenna Harrison, Amber Harrison, Izayah Elize, Hadley Harrison, Harper Harrison, and Peyton Brainard. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Roman Perse. Mike's family brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lucille Cribley; his brother, Ed Lloyd (Patty); his sisters-in-law, Sue Lloyd and Rhonda Gregg (Bill); Brother-in-law William Rodawalt and his 15 nieces and nephews, along with countless extended family members and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Lloyd and Glenice Louise Lloyd (Owens); his brother, Jim Lloyd; his sister, Cathy Madewell; and his father-in-law Charles Glenn Rodawalt. Brother-in-law George Rodawalt (Sandy) and sister in-law Glenda Ehmke (Rodawalt) (Don), and his nephew Scott Ehmke
Mike leaves behind something that cannot be measured by years, accomplishments, or possessions. He leaves behind many friends and family members who loved him, respected him, laughed with him, learned from him, and will miss him deeply.
He was husband who loved hard.
A father who was fiercely proud of his girls.
A Papa who adored his grandchildren.
A friend who could make you laugh.
A craftsman who could fix almost anything.
A veteran who served his country.
An outdoorsman who was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand.
And a man who never seemed to meet a problem he couldn't figure out.
Mike faced a long and difficult battle with illness, fighting every day to keep living. For years, he continued to get up, get dressed, and face each day. Even when he could no longer walk, he still put on his shoes every morning. That simple act spoke volumes about the man he was: determined, strong-willed, and unwilling to let his circumstances take away his sense of self.
After a lifetime of hard work, adventure, and perserverance, Mike can finally rest.
"Go Rest High on That Mountain"
Rest easy, Mike. Your work here is done. You were loved more that you ever could have known, and you will forever be missed by the family and friends whose lives you touched.
