Michael DeWayne Leigh

October 22, 1953 — October 7, 2014

Michael Leigh, 60, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away from Heart and Kidney failure on October 7th, 2014 at 10:08pm. The failure was a result of an unknown problem with his mitral valve installed during open heart surgery in 1993. He was surrounded by friends and family until the end. Prior to his open heart surgery, Michael had been an avid runner. Most impressively he was an ultra-marathoner; running 100 miles in one day. He also enjoyed skiing, exercising, shooting pool, nurturing his plants, singing, eating potato chips and candy, and often liked to travel. He had hoped to, one day, visit France. Michael was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and graduated Bennett High School in 1971. He was an avid fan of his Syracuse and Buffalo sports teams. In the late 70s he moved to Colorado after having visited on a ski trip. He then continued his education (accounting) at several universities, most recently, Regis University. In 2000, he and Holly met when their daughters attended elementary school together and they were married June 10, 2006. During his career he worked for many companies including The May Company, Pace, AT&T Broadband, Garmat, UPS, Veneco, and ProBuild. He was preceded in death by his father, William. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Holly; his daughters Rachel, Danielle, and Nicole; his grandson, Brayden Michael; his Mother, Virginia; his step-mom, Betty; his Aunt Mildred; his sister Deborah, his niece Monique, her husband Brian, and their children Brady and Teddy, Services will be Monday, October 13, 2014, with greeting of family and friends beginning at 10:30 AM. The funeral service will start at 11:00 AM with the reception immediately following on-site; private burial to follow. **In honor of Michael's beloved team, we welcome you to wear any of your Buffalo Bills gear to the service. **
