Michael A. “Mike” Heidebrecht passed away at the age of 81 on November 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon, his children Rick Heidebrecht (Kathy) of Longmont and Susan Wikstrom (Jeff) of Littleton, and his grandchildren Stephen, Kristina, Matt (Abby), and Tommy.
Mike was born in Independence, KS to Allen R. and L. Delma Heidebrecht. He graduated with a B.S. Electrical Engineering degree from Kansas University. Mike’s career in the pipeline industry involved work on the Alaskan pipeline as well as many other interesting projects around the world.
Mike’s lifelong hobby was photography which he enjoyed alongside Sharon during their retirement. The couple traveled for months at a time enjoying the outdoors and photographing landscapes, flowers, and wildlife. His portfolio includes award winning fine art photography, published photographs, and museum gallery exhibits. He also enjoyed many years of camping, sail boating, piloting small planes, motorcycling, woodworking, gardening, and computers. He was quite a handyman and could tackle any project that came his way using his extensive collection of tools.
Mike was kind, generous, known for his patience, and was most proud of his family. He was beloved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation for all the caregivers who took care of him throughout his final journey.
