Michael Giles Jones

November 28, 1956 – May 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Giles Jones, who left us on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 69. Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Brighton, Colorado, surrounded by his loving wife, Lydia, and their family, following a courageous, long-term battle with COPD.

Born on November 28, 1956, in Bloomfield, Iowa, to Ann and Carol Dean Jones, Mike was the second of four boys. He moved to Colorado with his family as a young boy and remained a proud resident of the state for the rest of his life.

A man of many talents and a relentless work ethic, Mike’s career path was as varied as his skills. Whether he was installing floors, roofing, or running his own handyman business, he approached every task with grit. However, he found his true professional calling on the open road, spending the majority of his career as an over-the-road truck driver.

On May 28, 1995, Mike married the love of his life, Lydia. Together, they built a life full of shared memories and unwavering companionship. After retiring in 2018, Mike didn’t slow down; instead, he traded the steering wheel for a table saw and a lawnmower. He discovered a deep passion for woodworking, building and creating custom pieces that will be cherished for generations, and took immense pride in maintaining a pristine lawn. An outdoorsman at heart, Mike was happiest when he was riding horses, hunting, camping, or 4-wheeling. He had a lifelong appreciation for the craftsmanship of classic cars and the timeless sound of "oldies" music.

 Mike was known for being an outspoken individual who never hesitated to give his honest opinion. He lived for a good debate and enjoyed the banter of a lively conversation, regardless of whether you agreed with him. Yet, beneath his opinionated exterior was a man who would be the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a warm, friendly presence and a fountain of knowledge, always willing to offer guidance or a piece of seasoned advice.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Lydia Jones; his brothers, Doug and Rod Jones; his children, Dixie Kalvels (Patrick), Kristie Jones, and Josh Jones (Elizabeth); and his seven grandchildren, Emily, Hailey, Conner, Keegan, Sam, Isabella, and Maximus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Carol Dean, and his older brother, Ronnie Jones.
