Littleton

Michael Gene Banigan, 71, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on October 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (10209 W Coal Mine Ave, Littleton, CO 80127) on November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

Michael grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where his love of the outdoors first began. In his early 20s, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a choice that shaped the direction of his life and the way he lived. All but a year later, in 1978, he married the love of his life, Jennette, in the Salt Lake City Temple — a covenant and relationship he held close to his heart for the rest of his life.

Throughout his life, Michael found peace and fulfillment in nature. He found joy in simple, steady routines and in spending time outdoors — tending to his garden, riding his electric bike, kayaking, hunting, and seeking out new adventures alongside Jennette. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing his love of the outdoors with them, helping them appreciate the same beauty he saw in the world around him. His calm presence, gentle steadiness, and the thoughtful way he approached life were defining characteristics to all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Jennette; his children: Jeremiah Banigan, Joshua Banigan (Kim), Sariah Banigan (Ken Arrington), Hannah West (Chris), and Rebekah Banigan (Taylor Treantos); and his 13 cherished grandchildren: Elijah, Ayden, Maya, Payton, Dillon, Riley, Hunter, Caleb, Jackson, Ethan, Aspen, Addison, and Arabella.

He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Banigan, and his sisters, Deb Leatherman (Dave) and Bonnie Klunder (Kevin).

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Banigan, and his brother, James Banigan.

Michael will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved him. His example, his loyalty, and the quiet way he showed strength will continue to influence those he leaves behind.
