She graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1957. Mickey was a cheerleader and was a member of both Job's Daughters and Girl Scouts. After high school she married and started her family. Mickey was always very involved in her children's activities including countless baseball games, softball games, piano recitals, girl scout meetings, swimming lessons, tennis matches, football games, wrestling matches and more. Mickey took bookkeeping classes and worked several jobs, retiring from Wheat Ridge Water District as Office Manager. Her sister Carol was her best friend through life and the two of them cared for their parents as they aged.
As if she wasn't busy enough raising her family, in her retirement years Mickey became an extremely active member in her community. Her Christian Faith lead her down many paths to helping others. Mickey was a driving force for Growing Home, which provided homeless families with guidance and support. With Trinity Presbyterian she coordinated the Interfaith Family Shelter Program. A network of homes that provides supplemental shelter for families in need. She helped ensure sleeping arrangements, activities, and food for participating families and was always there with words of encouragement. Along with these programs, she assisted with fundraising, food drives, collection of baby supplies, and the backpack program for school children. Mickey was recognized for her dedication by being awarded the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer award in 2011. She really loved music and dancing. She participated with the Rockyette Dance Ensemble, which entertains at nursing homes and the V.A. hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. One of Mickey's highlights in her life was her mission trip to Malawi, Africa in the village of Mtslitza. The children in Africa were very special to her which sparked her to sponsor a young girl.
Mickey was an inspiration to everyone she met, demonstrating her grace and love for all. She will be missed by her family and every heart she has touched.
