Maurice ""Maury"" Reiber, 83, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2014 at his home in Littleton, Colorado. Maury was born in Campbell, Nebraska on November 20, 1930. His parents, Carl and Caroline Reiber, and their children Melvin, Maury, Joan, Shirley and Jerry lived in Campbell/Hastings, Nebraska until the early 1940's when the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Maury joined the United States Air Force and served until he was honorably discharged in 1951, the same year he married Marie. They were blessed with three children, Janet, John and Diane. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Maury, his father Carl, and brothers Melvin and Jerry owned Carl Reiber & Sons Heating & Air Conditioning from the early 1950's until 1966, at which time Maury took a job for the City and County of Denver as a building inspector. He retired in 1988 as the City's Inspections Administrator. Maury's life-long passion was mining. He, his father and brothers began mining in the mid-1950's, and he continued to mine and invest in mining properties with his son John for the rest of his life. He devoted countless hours to researching mining history in order to write a book about mining in Park County, Colorado. Maury has the distinction of being the only individual that is the sole owner of the top of one of the Colorado Fourteeners, Mount Lincoln. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Marie Reiber; sisters Joan Padgett and Shirley Hieter; brother Jerry Reiber (Ruth); son John Reiber (Emily); daughter Diane Watkins; granddaughters Kristin Watkins (Michael) and Carina Watkins (Ryan); and numerous nieces and nephews. Maury was predeceased in death by his parents, brother Melvin, and daughter Janet. Services celebrating his life will be held at Hosanna Lutheran Church on September 26, 2014 at 10:30 AM (viewing) 11:00 AM (service) and subsequent burial with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
