Maryruth Weyand passed away January 29, 2024 at the age of 91. Maryruth was born September 13, 1932 to Nick and Mary Babish in Pueblo, Colorado. Maryruth graduated from Pueblo Central High School, and soon began her career as a professional singer and writer. In 1951 Maryruth married Don Weyand, who was her husband of more than 66 years until his passing in 2018.
Don and Maryruth moved to Wichita in 1952, where she joined KAKE-TV as a performer and writer, and was a sought-after writer and singer on radio and television commercials. When the family moved to Denver in 1958 she continued her career, and in 1965 Don and Maryruth started Carousel Productions, where she was the Creative Director responsible for radio and TV commercials, records and custom multimedia presentations for major companies across the United States. On their own Cartay record label they wrote and produced the unofficial Broncos anthem “Make Those Miracles Happen” sung by Jon Keyworth of the Broncos. Created to celebrate the Broncos’ first Super Bowl appearance, “Miracles” remains a popular local hit more than 45 years later.
Maryruth retired in 1994, but soon took the position of Choir Director for St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Lakewood – a position she held for more than 15 years. During that time and in later years she spent her time devoted to her family, her faith and her friends. We will all miss this very talented woman with an engaging wit and a sparkle all her own.
Maryruth is survived by her three children Bob (Kathy), Valerie and Dan (Kim), and by her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
