Mary Anne Maddock

June 16, 1925 — August 18, 2021

Mary Anne Irene Maddock, age 96, entered her eternal rest on August 18, 2021, passing away peacefully surrounded by her family. Mary Anne was born on June 16, 1925, in Denver, Colorado to Mildred (Griebling) and Wilfred Needs. She grew up in Denver but at the age of six in 1931, at the height of the Great Depression she tragically lost her father, Wilfred, in an accident. Her mother Mildred, later married Harold Hethcote who would adopt and raise Mary Anne as his own. She had one sister, Kathy Hethcote. Mary Anne would go on to graduate from North High School in 1943 and then assisted the war effort working at Remmington Arms Defense Plant. After the war ended, she married Robert Dennis Maddock on February 23, 1946, one month after his return from serving in the South Pacific. They were married for 66 years before his death in 2012. Bob and Mary Anne had four children, Richard Maddock (Janet Kenner), Janet Maddock Stickland (Eric Stickland), Don Maddock (Angela Jordan), and Steve Maddock (Kim Kelly) and were blessed with 10 Grandchildren, nine Great-Grandchildren, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Mary Anne loved the mountains, enjoying camping and watching all the wildlife, her trips to Blackhawk, going on cruises with her family, and traveling to new places. She loved crafting, knitting, and jewelry making but her passion was painting. She received numerous awards for her art with many still being displayed. Mary Anne was also active in many organizations including several Church Alter Societies, the Red Dale Camping Club, and the Prairie Greens Stitchery Club which she started. With all she had accomplished her greatest pride was always her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
