Mary Alice Valdez

Mary Alice Valdez passed away on April 4, 2018. Mary Alice was always a fighter. She was the surviving twin, born three months premature and had to sleep in her ""daddy's"" shoe box. She also lived with epilepsy and survived two broken legs when she was run over at the age of six. She was very competitive and was considered a ""tomboy"". She was also very religious from a young age and loved to teach catechism until the age of 70. She was kind-hearted and accepting of everyone. Her positive outlook on life touched us all. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; she will be missed by all. She is surived by her loving husband Ernest E. Valdez; her children Isaac J. (Michelle L.) Valdez and Mathew R. (Jamie R.) Valdez; her grandchildren Derrick I. (Jordan M.) Valdez, Brianna D. Valdez, Isaac J. Valdez, Jr., and Monica M. L. Valdez; her great grandson Derrick I. Valdez Jr; her siblings Virginia Weickum, Martha Santistevan, Michael Santistevan, James Santistevan, and Linda Hernandez; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Agnes I. Giron and Horacio Santistevan Jr.; her siblings Marie Carter, Evan Santistevan, and Johnny Santistevan. A 5pm Visitation and 6pm Rosary will be held Tuesday, April 10. A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, April 11 at 10:30am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery. There will be a reception at the church following the burial.
