Mary Gaye( MG) Dobelbower Shefchek passed away on Tuesday December 30, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. During this year long fight with Pleomorphic Sarcoma she never gave up or gave in. She took control and died with dignity, and we are so very proud of her for that. Her passing was everything prayed for; peaceful and surrounded by people she loved. We take comfort in knowing she was met by her parents and brother Jack, and she is now beautiful, and full of eternal life in the arms of our creator. Mary was born on November 23, 1953 to Clarence Wayne and Catherine Virginia Dobelbower in Oklahoma City, OK. She is survived by her husband Alex, and her children: Keri Street (husband Jason), and Katy Hensley (husband Evan), step-children Michael Shefchek (wife Yvonna), Lindsey Galvan (husband Salvador) and her precious grandchildren: Brayden James (3), Cameron Michael (8 mos), Emma Kate (coming soon), Mason Alex (5), and Elijah Alexander (11 mos). Her brothers and sisters who held her tight throughout her struggle: Tom, Jenny, Kathy, Debbie Sue, Mark, and Peter, as well as her many special friends and relatives. Mary's life on earth touched many people. She had the unique quality of being able to meet someone and after fifteen minutes they were fast friends. Her trust and acceptance of the people in her life came easy, and this made her endearing. She truly knew how to love and be loved. Throughout her health struggle she always managed a smile, even to those administering treatment. MG never lost her Faith. We feel her all around us and know that she has transitioned from being an angel on earth to our guardian angel in Heaven. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have prayed and supported us throughout this journey. Through you, and Jesus, we have experienced the true meaning of Grace. A Funeral Mass will be held at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 South Monaco Parkway, Denver, CO 80222 on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 10:30 am. Reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Denver MaxFund shelters or to Sacred Heart Retreat House, Sedalia Colorado.
