Mary Emma Pearson

May 15, 1939 — March 9, 2015

Mary Emma Pearson was called home to be with the Lord at 9pm March 9, 2015. She was 75 years old. She was born Mary Emma Yount in Sanger, Texas on May 15, 1939 to parents George Louis and Nellie Mae Yount. One of eight surviving children, Mary quickly became her mother's kitchen helper, and was well known throughout her life for ""Nanny's Famous Cinnamon Rolls!"" She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior after the birth of her daughter, Mary Theresa in 1960. On November 29, 1963 in Hialeah, Florida, she married Stanley L. Pearson, the love of her life, and celebrated 51 years of marriage last year. Their son Joseph Wayne was born in 1964 and the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Mary rose to the prestigious level of Vanguard Manager selling Tupperware. Mary and Stan traveled extensively throughout the South, settling in Moreno Valley, California, where her life changed in a dramatic way. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer just as she was about to open a dried fruit & nut food store in town. After much prayer and research, she decided to treat herself with natural remedies, juicing and supplements. ""Pearson's Nutrition Center"" opened in July, 1977 and she quickly became a well-known Certified Nutritionist and Counselor, assisting hundreds of families with chronic illnesses, from cancer to ADHD. She thoroughly enjoyed living in Europe with her daughter, then son-in-law and grandchildren, David and Victoria and there she became who everyone knows her to be...""Nanny."" Returning to the States in 1991, she and Stan settled in Aurora, Colorado where Mary once again utilized her nutritional counseling and retail expertise as store manager of the Aurora Vitamin Cottage. Her son eventually moved to Colorado with his wife and son Tonino, and Nanny was, as she put it, ""in hog heaven"" with her family all around her! Mary and Stan bought a home in a quiet cul-de-sac where she was also known as ""Momma Mary"" to all her neighbors, sharing in their milestones and block parties. Since retiring from Vitamin Cottage, Nanny welcomed granddaughter Morgan Savannah, two great granddaughters Brooklyn Dawn and Kharma Serene, and great grandson Elijah Scott into her fold. With city life a bit too hectic, Mary and Stan had recently moved to Burgaw, North Carolina to begin a peaceful country life. She is survived by her husband, Stan, daughter Theresa, son Joe, sister Ruby, grandchildren David, Victoria, Tonino, Morgan, great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Kharma, Elijah, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
