Mary Jo Moore was born July 12, 1927 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Emma and Henry Horn. Mary's mother died when she was just eight months old. Mary graduated from Carnegie High School then attended Chickasha Beauty College. She worked at, as well as owned her own hair salon. In 1943 she met John Moore, and they married on February 1, 1947 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Denise and Brenda. The Moore's also lived in Illinois, Kansas, Texas and Trinidad, West Indies before settling into their beautiful home next to the Denver Botanic Gardens in Denver, Colorado in 1972. Mary was a seamstress and interior decorator. She loved painting china, cooking and baking. Mary always made popcorn balls at Halloween, but was famous for her peanut brittle; in fact people would pay her to make it. Mary and John enjoyed playing golf together and traveling. Mary had many community affiliations, including being a life member of Friends of Nursing, a member of Tennyson Center for Children, The Denver Thrift Guild and the ladies golf program at Cherry Hills Country Club. John and Mary were members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Although Mary had a lot of anxiety in her lifetime, she also found enjoyment in playing dominoes, the piano and putting together puzzles. Mary loved being with her friends and family, especially her two wonderful daughters, Denise and Brenda, and husband, John, of 67 years. Namaste Hospice was with her during the last few months of her life and became very attached to her and her loving family. Mary was received by the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She will be greatly missed. Please share your condolences and memories of Mary with her family at the Guestbook.
