Mary Ellen Libby

LIBBY, MARY E. Departed this world August 1, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband, Art, son Dale of Highlands Ranch, daughters Dr Debra Stanley of Ken Caryl, Diane McPheeters of Florence, OR, Mary Ellen Keskimaki of Kamloops, BC. as well as by nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Born in New Orleans in 1927, Mary attended LSU and joined the Cadet Nurse Corps in WWII. In 1946 she married Art Libby, a war veteran from NH, where they began their married life. Later they lived in Calif. and in Albany, NY, where Mary earned a teaching degree from SUNY in 1961 before moving to Colo where she taught math in Jefferson County public and parochial schools. Mary was very active in the Catholic Church as well as in Lakewood Sister Cities. She was president of the St Jude Parish Council and recipient of the 1982 St Jude Award. Mary and Art enjoyed family and world travel, visiting more than 100 countries. Mary will be sorely missed by family and friends. A prayer vigil will be held at 7pm, Aug 11, at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S Wadsworth. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30am, Aug 12, at Light of the World Catholic Church, 10316 W Bowles, followed by a reception and burial at Ft Logan Cemetery.
