Mary Beth Dimmock

February 18, 1954, to July 6, 2023

Mary Beth Dimmock, age 69, passed away in Aurora, Colorado, on July 6, 2023.

She and her husband, Michael True, lived in Denver for over 35 years.

Mary worked for a business services firm as office manager until she retired in 2021.  Prior to that, she sewed custom upholstery and worked together with her husband in their own interior finishing business.  Mary majored in English at the Community College of Allegheny County.

As a skilled quilter, avid reader, and a lover of art, Mary brought her sense of humor and appreciation of color to everything she created.  An expert seamstress and artisan, she made everything from her own prom dress to art quilts; decorator pillows; doll clothes; and purses, wallets, and bags of all types.

Mary was an exhibitor at the Columbine Quilt Guild Invitational at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in 1997 and at the 9th Annual Colorado Quilts & Woodworking Show.  She was a finalist in the 1994 Good Housekeeping/Coming Home All-American quilt contest and received an Award of Merit for the “Create a Childhood Keepsake” Quilt Challenge in Meredith, NH.

She was a strong believer in women’s rights and often marched for progressive causes.

She will be greatly missed for her easy-going, kind, fun-loving spirit by family and friends who loved her but especially by her nieces Emily and Hannah Dimmock upon whom she doted.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; father, William J. Dimmock (Patricia); brother, Daniel (Lorraine Gallick); brother William (Pauline) as well as her aunt, Rosemary; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lois Hoskin (Paul) with whom she was particularly close, as well as her niece, Rachel Dimmock.

Mary will be buried, along with her mother, in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, where she grew up.  Donations in her honor may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org or to the Denver Art Museum https://www.coloradogives.org/donate/DenverArtMuseum .

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 11 a.m. in the Blue Spruce room of the Heather Gardens Clubhouse at 2888 S. Heather Gardens Way, Aurora, Colorado.
