Marvin was born in Springview, NE. In his youth he spent time helping his father run a general store, went fishing for catfish, dislocated an outhouse and swung from willow tree to willow tree with his friends. He also spent time working as a turkey herder; it was his first job. In his twenties while living in Wyoming he worked on a seismic crew for Western Geological and then later as a draftsman for Texaco and Tidewater. After meeting Dolores A. Dietsch in 1953 they got married in Laramie, WY. Shortly afterwards he enrolled in Casper College and then went onto continue his education at the University of Wyoming. He achieved a bachelor's degree in geology and a master's degree in mathematics. Marvin and Dolores had three children - Terry in 1955, Tory in 1961, and Tana in 1964. Three grandchildren later came along that kept them very busy. Marvin and Dolores were very loving and great parents and grandparents. They raised three very talented children who stayed in the same area to be close together. They shared a lot of camping, travel and family gatherings. The majority of Marvin's working career was with Amoco Production Company in Denver. He moved up the ranks in the company becoming the head of the computer area. At one time he was able to secure some of the most up-to-date equipment for the area, giving a colleague the opportunity to call him ""The man who walked on water."" He was highly thought of within the company and stayed in touch with many co-workers through the years. Marvin enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and some hunting, but the pastime he enjoyed the most was traveling in he and Dolores's motor home during the retirement years. They went through the ""big rig's"" and traveled all over the United States, even going to Alaska twice. They met and enjoyed many people on their trips and were very active in the Colorado Columbines' Club. After retiring from the RV lifestyle they moved to Windcrest where they made many good friends and remained very active. Marvin was a very gracious and loving person and we will all miss him greatly. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2pm at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road (One block west of Holly Street) in Centennial. Marvin will be laid to rest in Rocky Mountain Memorial Park. Please share your memories of Marvin and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook.
