Marvin Brandt

August 12, 1944 — March 7, 2023

Aurora

Marvin Ray Brandt, affectionately called “Pudge”, “Muffin” and “Pa”, peacefully passed with loved ones by his side, in Aurora Colorado on March 7th 2023. He was aged seventy-eight years.

Marvin was born on August 12th 1944 in Ashton Iowa. He was raised on a farm just outside of Melvin Iowa. He attended the Melvin Community School and excelled in baseball and basketball; it was there that he met Bonnie Jean Colshan, who would become his wife on June 5th, 1965. Marvin joined the United States Airforce in 1964 and proudly reached the rank of Sergeant. His service took Marvin and Bonnie from Iowa to Hawaii, and eventually to Lowry AFB, in Aurora Colorado. Marvin was honorably discharged from his service in 1968. Marvin and Bonnie chose to stay in Aurora where they would put down roots to build a loving family. Still feeling compelled to serve and help his community, Marvin joined the Aurora Police Department in 1969. For the next thirty-one years, until his retirement in 2001, Marvin proudly served the citizens of Aurora in patrol, narcotics, and homicide investigation functions. For fifteen years after retiring from the Aurora Police Department, Marvin helped families find closure as a cold case investigator for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Completely retiring in 2016, Marvin spent his remaining years enjoying what his hard work had built; a beautiful cabin, home and family.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Bonnie Brandt. His sons Kevin and Chris, of Midland Texas and Aurora Colorado respectively. His grand-daughter Morgan and grand-son-in-law Derrick Buchholz of Brighton Colorado. His grand-son Montana Brandt of Aurora Colorado. His sister Linda and brother-in-law Denis Griffiths of Braselton Georgia. His nephew John Griffiths and wife Kimberley of Colbert Georgia. His Niece Jane Griffiths of Decatur Georgia. Marvin is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family, and friends that all made Marvin smile in their exceptional, personal ways. Marvin was preceded in death by his Father John Brandt and Mother Kathryn Brandt.

Marvin’s celebration of life will be held at Horan and McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave. Aurora Colorado 80014, at one o’clock on the first day of spring, March 20th, 2023. Following Marvin’s celebration of life services, we welcome all to gather at Noonan’s (13521 E.
