Marlene Pettit, age 84, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on December 25, 2025. She was born on November 15, 1941, in Gilman, Colorado. Marlene was a graduate of Eagle County High School (1959) and Colorado State University (1963), and in 1982 she earned her designation as a Certified Public Accountant.

Throughout her life, Marlene lived in many communities across Colorado, including Camp Hale, Wolcott, Tiny Town, KaRose, Eagle, Fort Collins, and the Denver Metro area. She also resided for a time in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She is survived by her children, Allison Watkins, Jennifer Pettit, and Timothy Pettit; her grandchildren, Abbey and Nate Watkins, and Josh and Sam Lundgren; her siblings, Joy Mayne and Carole Richards; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Kay Pettit, and by her daughter, Cathy Bell.

Marlene enjoyed a long and rewarding professional career, working for Martin Marietta, Quest Financial Services, US West Communications, and Time Warner Cable.

At home, she found joy in gardening, listening to classical music, and working on crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and visited England, Scotland, Ireland, Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico, and every state in the contiguous United States. If there was a lighthouse to be seen, she made sure to find it.

Marlene was deeply patriotic and maintained a lifelong interest in politics. She attended Colorado State Conventions and rallies and was always eager to encourage others to vote. She was fascinated by the space program from its earliest days and faithfully followed the Indianapolis 500 each year. A strong supporter of the arts, she frequently took her family to musicals, symphonies, and concerts in the park.

She took great pride in her many accomplishments, including winning a Blue Ribbon at the Colorado State Fair for baking muffins, being the Champion of her 8th Grade Spelling Bee, graduating as Valedictorian of her high school class, receiving academic honors at Colorado State University, and being a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG).

A memorial service will be held on January 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1820 Broadway, Denver, Colorado. Interment will take place at a later date at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle, Colorado.
