~ Mark Anthony McKenna ~
September 17,1958 – February 21,2021
Mark Anthony McKenna is survived by his stepmother Patty McKenna, brothers Shawn McKenna, Ed McKenna and Josh McKenna and sisters Taryn Kennedy and Rebecca Schmeits. Mark was a devoted brother and uncle to thirteen nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.
Mark had a deep devotion to Christ and expressed it through every aspect of his life starting at very young age. He expressed his love for the Lord through his relationships with others.
His lifetime passion for hunting, fishing, Labradors, and his love of the Colorado outdoors was passed down from his father and resonated to his younger brothers and nephews. The hunting stories of Uncle Mark will be cherished and passed on for ages.
Mark was an accomplished athlete in high school and college where he played varsity football and was also on the gymnastics team. He went on to play college football at Western State University. He loved team sports and played rugby post-college with his brothers. Mark also was a supportive fan of his nieces and nephews following their athletic careers within rugby, gymnastics, hunting, football, volleyball, equestrian riding, wrestling, lacrosse, and swimming closely. It’s known by many that Mark was always present in support of his loved ones, on and off the field.
Mark’s professional and educational career is one of great accomplishment.
Mark attended Centennial Elementary School, Goddard Middle School and graduated from Littleton High School in 1976. Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State College in 1994. He went on to complete his Masters Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix in 1996. Mark’s love for education inspired him to complete his second Master of Arts in Education, Secondary Teacher Education in 2008. With yet one more accomplishment in front of him he received his Doctor of Management degree in 2013 from the University of Phoenix. As a teacher of Family and Consumer Science and Culinary Arts at Heritage High school, Mark was an inspiration to many. He was a sponsor for the schools chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Mark was a champion for his students. He believed in them and taught them to take care of each other and the ones you love. Marks passion for protecting and serving others will live on through his legacy of a scholarship trust in his name at Heritage High School.
Mark will be deeply missed but his power and protection will be with us always.
