Mark Ward King, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 28, 2014 in Aurora, Colorado. Mark was born in Roodhouse, Illinois on April 1, 1924, the youngest of five children of Mark Ward, Sr. and Vera King. He began his military career by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1943 at age 18. He retired from Gates Rubber Company after 34 years of service in supervision. Mark was a Mason of 65 years; a Shriner with El Jebel Temple servicing in many interbodies, a Past Watchman of Shepherds of the Messiah Shrine #12 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a member of the Colorado Consistory, a Past Worthy Patron of Loyalty Chapter 145 of Eastern Star, a Past Royal Patron of Liberty Court of Amaranth (1985, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003), a Past Grand Royal Patron of the State of Colorado of the Order of Amaranth (1994-95), Past Supreme Royal Patron of Supreme Council of the Order of Amaranth (1999-2000), Chapter Dad of Centennial of the Order of DeMoley where he received the Cross of Honor; Associate Guardian of Bethel #18 of Jobs Daughters; and a Rainbow Dad. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years (1969), Martha King, sons: Mark W. King III (Wanda), David King (Tracy), Brad King, Wyatt King (Terry); daughters: Linda Olin and Judy Hayes (Dick); 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his parents Mark (Ward) and Vera King, his sisters Mary King, Delores Kerr, Ruth Knox, Eleanor Briggs and his brother in law Bob Briggs. Visitation, Services and Reception will be held at Horan & McConaty (11150 East Dartmouth Ave, Aurora) on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM, Services including the Rose Croix provided by Denver Consistory and Masonic Services provided by Denver #5 will begin at 3:30 PM. A Reception will follow. In celebration of Mark's life, please wear colorful clothing. Interment with full military honors will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Ft. Logan Cemetery.
