Marion Elaine Hubner passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 98. She was born on March 2, 1927, on a farm in Rush Township and lived in Warren, Illinois when her parents moved into town. Marion attended high school in Warren, where she met her future husband. She then went to Rockford, Illinois to attend Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Nurse Cadet in 1948.
She is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Edward Hubner who died in 2018, also by her sister, Patricia Jannsen and brother-in-law Bill Janssen. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Hubner and Rebecca Gregg, son-in-law Bruce Jensen, 3 nieces and their children.
Marion and Ed were snowbirds spending at least 5 months of the year in Arizona for 23 years. There she learned to play tennis, taught water aerobics, started a ‘soup group’ for special friends in the tennis club, and helped organize the Sunshine Friends. They also were bicycle riders in both Colorado and Arizona, went cross country skiing in Colorado, and made several trips on a motorcycle, pulling a trailer so they could camp out.
Marion was an avid Presbyterian Church attendee joining in January of 1945. As an adult she established a nursery, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as a Deacon and Elder in various churches and started a circle. She and Ed were founding members of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church of Northglenn, Colorado.
Nursing was one of her great loves. As a child she was always ‘going to be a nurse’ as she would explain to her cats as she applied a ‘bandage’. She worked as a part time nurse at Presbyterian/St Lukes Medical Center then as Head Nurse of the Recovery Room until her retirement. In Arizona she helped take blood pressure readings and visited neighbors who were not feeling well or had just been discharged from the hospital. Cats were another love. From the time she got her first barn cat she was never without at least one cat.
She will be missed by all who knew her as a friend, confidant, and Mother.
