Marilyn was born in Fort Worth, TX and lived her early years in Lefors, TX where she was lovingly raised by her parents Marian Isabelle (Pittman) Daugherty (March 10, 1918-December 25, 1981) and Robert/Bob Switzer Daugherty (August 18, 1910-November 19, 1971). At age 6 she became a big sister to Jane Lee. Jane, as a toddler, couldn't pronounce “Marilyn” but could only say “Moie”. Thus, her nickname was born.
The family moved to Southwest Kansas, Ulysses (1947) and Liberal (1954), as Bob followed his career in the natural gas/oil industry. While at Liberal High School Moie met and maintained fun and valuable friendships for 68 years.
Upon graduation (1956) she lived in Amarillo, TX and worked in the banking business which led to a position in Denver, CO (1962). In Denver Moie met and married her true love, Marvin R. Morrison (1970). They moved to New York, Marvin's home, where he resumed his law practice on Long Island. They enjoyed 30 years of travel abroad, outdoor activities (especially sailing), Moie's excellent cooking and return trips to Southwest KS for pheasant hunting. While in New York Moie discovered a life-long passion for high fashion. She excelled in the retail industry, modeling and was exquisitely dressed wherever she went.
In 2000 Moie and Marvin returned to Denver where she continued her fashion career. They took full advantage of the Colorado outdoors including bird watching, skiing and fly fishing. Marvin, her devoted husband, passed away November 2, 2019.
Throughout her final years, she loved and participated in the lives of her extended family. One could hear her often say, “ I have such a good life! I am so lucky..." These words of sincere appreciation were a reflection of her love of family and friends. Throughout her life, Moie demonstrated resilience, strength and determination. She had a fun and spirited personality and was always ready to try something new (such as zip-lining at age 85!!) and enjoy a good meal with family.
Moie was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
