Marilyn May Koelmel

Marilyn May Koelmel of Lakewood, CO, 88, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. Marilyn was born in Wauneta, NE. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robin Koelmel, her beloved parents John and Della Merrill and siblings Barbara, Joyce, Richard and Elsie. Robin and Marilyn married while he was home on leave from the Marine Corps on Christmas day, 1956. Upon discharge from the military, they moved to Denver, CO. She is survived by her 3 children Gerald Koelmel, Janina Rukavina and husband Frank, Derek Koelmel and wife Jessica, as well as cherished grandchildren Shaina, Kristi, Jennifer, Tyler, Jordan, Riley, Emily and Max, great grandchildren Paige, Jesse, Michael, Arya, Rowan and Ellowyn and great-great grandchildren Dream and Passion. Robin and Marilyn always worked hard to make a beautiful life for their family. Always together, they retired on the same day from Martin Marietta Aerospace in 1992 where Marilyn worked as an administrative assistant. She loved to laugh, and was an intelligent, loving woman with quiet strength and devotion for her family. She loved taking care of all the children over the years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed countless adventures through the pages she loved. In 1979, she and Robin purchased a cabin in the mountains and they spent every available weekend and vacation with family and friends making memories at their special mountain home. She is so loved and will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 11:00AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.
