Marietta Harmon Eden was born June 30, 1935 at her grandparents’ home in Auburn, Nebraska. Her parents were John R. Harmon and Blanche (Keedy) Harmon. Marietta grew up in Auburn until 1942 when the family moved to Schenectady, New York during World War II. After the war they moved back to Nebraska. She attended high school and graduated in 1954. Marietta met her future husband, Ivan (Ike) Eden when she was only 13 years. After several years, when he was home on leave from the Marines they met up again. They were married on October 2, 1955 at Martin Luther Church south of Johnson, Nebraska. In July 1957 they moved to Denver, Colorado where they lived the rest of their lives. Their son Dennis Lynn was born on December 13, 1960.
Surviving are her Son Dennis and Daughter in-law Karen, Grandsons Geoffrey and his wife Allison and their Daughter Hadley of Firestone, Colorado, and David and wife Amanda of San Clemente, California, Sister in-law Karen Harmon of Denver and God Son Kevin Harmon of Denver, and several Nephews and Nieces.
Those preceding her in death, her husband Ivan “Ike” Eden, and parents John and Blanche, in-laws Herman and Eliza Eden, Sister Marilyn Jeanneret and brother in-law Marvin Jeanneret, brother Kenneth Harmon, sister in-law Lois (Eden) Rumbaugh and Brother in-law Earnest (Bud) Rumbaugh.
She passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 with her Son and Grandson Geoffrey by her side.
Her services will be held at Horan & McConaty in Arvada, Colorado. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 12th from 5-7pm. The funeral will be held the following day, June 13th at 10am with a reception to follow.
Marietta will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery along with her husband after the reception. For those traveling to the cemetery, please be in your vehicle with your headlights and hazard lights on by 12:45pm as we will be traveling in procession.
