Marie Mcgrath

Marie G. McGrath, nee Dolan, was born on April 20, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, and died on March 27, 2023, in Littleton, CO, just short of her 94th birthday. Marie completed her education during WWII at Notre Dame Academy High School and College on Staten Island, majoring in French, minoring in psychology, and playing basketball. Her first job was as an assistant to a municipal bond trader near the NYSE on Broad St., Manhattan. Marie’s brother introduced her to Jack McGrath after Mass one day, and they wed in 1957. They were married for 52 years before Jack died in 2009.

After years as a homemaker and mother, both in Maryland and Colorado, Marie returned to her secretarial career and became an elementary school secretary in the Littleton Public Schools. Upon retirement, Marie attended the Denver Catholic Biblical School and volunteered at St. Mary Catholic Parish for many years. She enjoyed reading, going out to lunch, doing crossword puzzles, and following current events. She is survived by her daughters, Regina (Gabriel Escobar) McGrath and Kathleen (Ben) Gill, as well as her four grandchildren: Jack, Jenna, Joseph, and Daniel.

Funeral services will include a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31st, at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 6853 S. Prince St., Littleton, CO 80120. A reception in Ave Maria Hall at St. Mary will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Parish with Parish Pantry noted in the memo line, or Notre Dame Academy, 78 Howard Ave., Staten Island, NY 10301.
