Marian Jane Zalanka, 101, died on February 21, 2024 at Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on October 23, 1922 in West Lawn, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Fagan) Eisenhower.
Marian was raised in West Lawn and West Reading, PA and was a graduate of Wilson High School. Wanting to see what the world had to offer outside of her small town, she joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served as a payroll specialist. She was a proud mother of ten children and raised her family in Montana and Colorado. Later in life, she worked as an elementary school kitchen manager for Cherry Creek Schools in Colorado. Marian enjoyed baking, cooking, camping, fishing, crossword puzzles and was a fierce Scrabble player.
Marian is survived by her 10 children and their families, including Peter Zalanka, John Zalanka, Carol Wendorf, James Zalanka, Thomas Zalanka, Christy Werpy, Timothy Zalanka, Mary Skoglund, Janet Ward and Robert Zalanka; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Alice Boehringer and Pauline Eisenhower.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 24th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester, NH. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM with a funeral service at 12PM.
Services in Denver will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 12pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, CO 80246. Graveside Shelter Military Honors to be held at 2pm on the same day at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO. 80236.
