Marian Jane Oxley Abbas Shields

August 7, 1940. January 13, 2023
Marian decided it was time to meet her maker. She passed comfortably with her entire family around her.

Born Marian Jane Oxley in Corwith, Iowa to Harold and Elsie Oxley. She attended the consolidated school where she excelled in basketball and drum majorette for Corwith high School band. She began her marching band expertise at the age of 8!

She worked for John Deere in Des Moines, Iowa and later, followed her soon to be husband, Bill Abbas (deceased on January 3, 1970) to Akron, Ohio. They married on April 1, 1961, and had two daughters, Kelley Renae (Dominic Del Duca) and Jill Elise (Gregory Le Roy).

In 1970, she married Royal Shields and they had a third daughter Heather Nicole(Daniel DeLange).

With so many accomplishments in her life, she was pivotal in sharing a small ownership in a mapping company in Denver, Colorado, mapped the world in oil and gas exploration.

Loved by all who knew her, she was described as one of the most compassionate, genuine, and funny people with unbelievable strength and drive.

Especially important to Mim, as we all called her, were her dear friends in her bridge group and the dear and caring friends in our incredible, supportive neighborhood and her Corwith, Iowa Ya Ya sisters, a wonderful group of women who remained close friends since early childhood.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Royal, of 52 years of marriage, three daughters and their spouses, and the loves of her life, grandchildren: Grayson Del Duca, Skylar Del Duca, Campbell DeLange, Taite DeLange, and Harper DeLange. She felt blessed having her daughters and grandchildren live in the state of Colorado with her.

A Celebration of Life will be sometime later in the spring as Spring was her favorite season. There will be ample notice.

In lieu of flowers, two of her favorite charities were Alzheimer’s and Tunnels to Tower.
