Marian Giannasi

February 19, 1928 — March 16, 2023

Marian Giannasi, 95, passed away on March 16, 2023, after a long, busy and passionate rewarding life.

Marian was born to Lillian Schultz Turner and Murley Turner on February 19, 1928, in Denver Colorado.

Marian was baptized on the 8th day of April 1928 at the All Saints Church and will have her funeral services at the same church, now called Our Merciful Savior. She participated in so many of the church’s programs and had a lifelong love for her religion and gave of herself to the needs of the church.

Marian fell in love with Mario A. Giannasi and they were married on September 14, 1947.  They loved their adventures to the Rocky Mountains and enjoyed building their one and only home. Life was loved and enjoyed to the fullest.

Marian was predeceased by Mario and all of her sisters and brother, Margaret Conway, Fred Turner, Agnes Theisen, Mildred Dean, Phyllis Sharla and Eula Gale.

Although Marian and Mario had no children, they are survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marian gave herself the nickname of “Crabby Aunt.” She was anything but that and delicious food always came out of her kitchen for all to enjoy.

Marian excelled at all her jobs, starting with Sigman Meat Packing Company before she met Mario and meeting Mario at Joslin’s where they both were employed.

From there she went to William Crow Jewelers, W. A. Lang, J. F. Sato & Associates, Sunstrand Aviation, and David Grahams & Stubbs.

Marian was the founding mother of the North Denver branch (better known as the High-Country Chapter) of the ABWA which is the American Business Women’s Association. She was a 40-year member, from 1968-2008, and a guiding force in this organization which sought to serve the needs and goals of women who were working in the business world.

Marian led the ABWA’s efforts to distribute college scholarships to worthy students and to encourage all businesswomen to practice collaboration, communication and support of one another. Marian also provided a very interesting, helpful guest speaker at every monthly meeting of the ABWA.

This organization was successful as a result of Marian’s 40 years of inspirational hard work and devotion to achieving its goals.

Marian acquired many friends throughout her life, and they became her Village.

She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Marian never met a cat she did not like…In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MAX FUND.

A Visitation will take place on Monday April 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Merciful Savior, 2222 W 32nd Ave, Denver, CO 80211. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Following the Funeral Service burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 South Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80247 at 1:00 PM.
