Maria Bargas

Maria L. Bargas born Maria L. Hamilton, age 58, passed away surrounded by her three children in her home in Thornton, CO at 4:16 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 after a three-and-a-half-month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Maria fought tirelessly every day since her diagnosis on July 2, 2020. We are all in awe of her fierce spirit and she will forever be our Warrior.

Maria was born on February 18, 1962 in Denver, CO. Throughout her life she lived in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. She graduated with a Medical Assistant Certificate from PIMA Medical Institute in 1993. Maria worked as a Medical Assistant in family medicine and dermatology for nearly 20 years and then transitioned into working for Westminster Public Schools for the last six years.

Maria found the most joy in being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed taking trips with them, cooking, hosting holidays and family get-togethers in her home, and anything that created family memories. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Maria will remember her as a kind-hearted, selfless soul who made each of them feel like when they were around her they were the most important person in the room.

Survivors include her three children, Melinda Bargas, Kasandra Bargas-Cordova, and Mark Bargas II; her son-in-law, Christopher Cordova; her six grandchildren, Kailee Cordova (15), Abigail Bargas (13), Lorenzo Bargas (11), Brooklyn Cordova (9), Sebastian Cordova (4), and Amelia Cordova (2); her parents, Melvin and Maria (Sally) Hamilton; her sister, Mable Hamilton; her Niece, Melissa Hamilton; her great-nephew, Nathaniel Hamilton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family.
