Peerless Margaret Joan (Pepper) Margaret Joan Peerless, 89, of Lakewood Colorado passed away peacefully, at Lutheran Collier Hospice on the evening of January 1, 2015, after a battle with COPD and other health issues. She is the mother of four children Jane (Mike), Susan, George (Tracy), and Cindy (Marty). Her survivors include eight grandchildren, Michelle, Nicholas (Elizabeth), Andrea (Jason), Bonnie (Al), Adam (Karina), Brian (Megan), Michaela (Matt), Alton, and one great grandchild, Ruby. Margaret was born in St. John's Wood in northwest London, England on April 7, 1925 to Robert Thomas and Gertrude Pepper. She was the youngest of 8 children. In September of 1939, just before England entered WWII, there was an evacuation of children from London because of the fear of bombing. Margaret and her school mates were evacuated to farms far from London. Because of her age, she stayed only 3 months and then returned to London to trade school where she learned her lifelong trade of tailoring. When war came two years later, she joined the British Land Army and served on a farm in Cornwall that supplied food to London. After the war she finished her apprenticeship and became a skilled tailor. She married a schoolmate and neighborhood boy, Neville J. Peerless in 1947. Her first child, Jane, was born in 1948. London was nearly flattened by the bombs, and there were few places to live, so they decided to take advantage of a government program to immigrate to Canada in 1951, leaving their parents and siblings behind. They lived in Kitchener, Ontario for three years and then followed Margaret's older sister, Irene, to Denver, Colorado where Margaret's other three children were born. Margaret's passions were her children/grandchildren, her rescue dogs, and her garden. Her children and grandchildren knew they could always depend on her. One of her dogs was called Tootsie. So grandma became known as ""Grandma Tootsie"" to all the grandchildren. Her garden, especially her climbing roses, was the envy of the neighborhood. While in her 80's she still watered, fertilized and trimmed her rose bushes. Margaret will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her latest rescue pup, Teddy. There will be a family memorial, and later in the year when the roses bloom, a celebration of Margaret's life. We love and miss you!
