There will never be another Lynne Kristine Eder Matsunaka. She was joyful, generous, fiercely loyal, endlessly fun, and impossible to forget. Lynne peacefully passed away on September 28, 2026, with her husband, Bob, daughter, Katie, and son-in-law, Andrew, at her side as they played her favorite rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Her 38-year marriage and partnership with Robert Matsunaka was the heart of Lynne’s world. They simply loved being together, sharing travel, golf, concerts, a wide circle of friends, and the everyday moments in between. In her final days, Lynne told those closest to her that they had never been more in love.
Above all, Lynne treasured being a mom and gramma. Her daughter, Katie Lynne Matsunaka Fournier, was her greatest joy, and that love extended to Katie’s husband, Andrew Fournier, and their daughter, Ali May. Being Ali’s gramma brought Lynne great happiness. She was already in love with the grandson due in January, her own birth month—a sweet connection the family will always cherish. No distance was too great when it came to family. Lynne and Bob loved visiting Katie and her family in Boston, walking Newbury Street, ranking the clam chowder at every restaurant they visited, and watching their granddaughter play.
Lynne was equally devoted to her parents, Barbara Alice May Eder and Donald Lee Eder. She showed that love through her attention to the countless details of their happiness, health, and well-being.
Born in Billings, Montana, Lynne married Bob in 1988 and together they built their family’s home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In recent years, she and Bob spent winters in Buckeye, Arizona, a place Lynne called her “Happy Place.” Their door was always open to a steady stream of family and friends, and the house was filled with music, pool time, evenings around the fire pit, and the people they loved.
Hawaii held a special meaning for Lynne, Bob, and Katie. They spent many happy times there, returning to places and people they loved. Kaanapali and Hula Grill were favorites, but what stayed with Lynne most was the spirit of ohana which she carried home with her in celebrating family and building traditions.
Golf was also a big part of Lynne and Bob’s life together. As members of Highlands Ranch Golf Club, Sundays were reserved for Couples events. But for Lynne, golf was more about the people than her score. She loved the Friday Ladies’ Groups to spend time among her favorite people to swap stories and share laughs.
Professionally, Lynne began her career in fashion retail at May D&F and worked at well-known brands before moving into real estate, where her eye for detail, ability to connect with people, and determination to get things right served her well as she helped others realize their dreams of homeownership.
Lynne is survived by her beloved husband, Bob; her adored daughter, Katie, and son-in-law, Andrew; her precious granddaughter, Ali; her parents, Barb and Don; her brother, Ken Eder, and his wife, Sarah; her nieces, Jenna and Sophia; and her loyal Golden Retriever companion, Melody. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply and remember her with love and laughter.
