July 5, 1940 – April 29, 2026
Lyman Black, aged 85, passed away peacefully in his home on April 29, 2026. A man of adventurous spirit and boundless generosity, he lived a rich and full life that touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Throughout his 85 years, he embraced each day with enthusiasm and courage. Whether kayaking through serene waters, biking hilly paths, dancing with joyful abandon, traveling to new destinations, or even attempting cliff diving well into his 80s, his zest for life was inspiring. His adventurous soul was matched only by the depth of his love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Kim and son-in-law Tony, two cherished grandchildren, Jade and River, his loving sister Nancy, six caring nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog who remained by his side. He faced life’s trials with strength and grace, especially carrying the memory of his wife Carol and his two grandchildren, Shawndra and Strider, who passed before him, as well as the loss of his brother John and parents.
Known for his generous heart, he gave freely to those around him, always eager to help friends and family alike. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and an enduring love that will forever echo in the lives he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held June 27th at Hudson Gardens.
