Lula Bessie Overstreet

Lula got her baccalaureate degree in education from Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell OK in 1953. She became an elementary (early grades) school teacher and taught for the better part of 32 years. Lula loved sending birthday cards, Christmas cards, and genealogy information, whether they wanted that information or not, to her relatives and Robert's relatives. She and Robert liked to raise vegetables and fruit in their gardens, and mostly Lula would "can" as much of the produce as she could. When they traveled to visit relatives Lula and Robert were usually bringing some type of canned food with them. Lula loved visiting with family and friends on the phone or in person. Lula and her siblings, uncles, and aunts from Jewell's side the family, lived with her parents Willis & Jewell Banks in a tiny house and out buildings during the depression, drought, and Dust Bowl in the 1930's. Living was extremely hard during this period and WWII, which followed the depression. People who survived this difficult time were tough, resilient, and had strong faith in GOD.

Robert Overstreet, Lula's husband of 66 years, predeceased her in 2018. Lula is survived by her son Randy Overstreet and his former wife Dalana; Lula's four grandchildren and four great grandchildren: James Overstreet and his two daughters Serina and Eden, Avery Overstreet (wife Taylor) and their two sons Chase and Gavin; Colby Overstreet; Madeleine Canales and her husband Chris Canales.
